Girls Proposing?

Being Irish I grew up and learnt that on February 29th a girl can propose to her love. I am traditional so I dont know how I feel about girls proposing to boys but then again if it is the love of your life and leap year only comes around every 4 years then it also makes it quite special. I would propose to Mr Soldier every day of the year if I could but being brave enough to do it in 2008 when he did it? Probably not because we were newly together and I would have been too nervous! What do you think about girls proposing?

Pregnant in Heels?!

Is it just me or is it hard to be glamorous and pregnant?! Like I mentioned I have been lucky so far with a lack of nausea which means that mornings haven't been so much of a drag as they were when I was pregnant with Madison and yet I still can't pull myself together. I have visions of being all dressed up in the latest fashions and even wearing heels on a weekend out with my hubby. Sure this can be hard to do as Motherhood Maternity isn't exactly catwalk stuff but I avoid maternity clothes and tend to lean towards my usual stores and buying size large instead of my usual size. However, the heels?! My toddler would love them as I would be slower at chasing her as she runs around the house with the salt shaker upside down but my back? Not so much! For now I will keep dreaming looking at magazines and stick to my leggings and boots look. Have any of you come across Mums who have it all together?

21 Months Old!!!

Madison is 21 months old today, like almost two years old, ahhhh!!! She has now outgrown all of her 18 month clothes and is in 2 year old clothes and still size 5 diapers, that is if you can get a diaper to stay on her. She doesn't want them on and she will try to take them off every nap time which is going to end in disaster soon....ew.

Madison's newest word is Elmo which is so cute, she loves watching him on her TV when Mummy and Daddy are trying to get ready in the morning to get out of the house.

She is also getting very opinionated and saying no a lot but it is actually kind of cute which I never thought I would say! I will say "Madison do you want to cook the dinner tonight?" and she will look at me and giggle and say noooooo!!!

Like I mentioned before she is starting a new daycare next week so hopefully she will make lots of new friends and really thrive in that environment.

Madison shouts "DDDDDD" the second we get in the car to drive everywhere which means dance, she loves music and the radio has to be turned on all the way up!

We are still working on counting and ABC's and her favourite song to do actions to is the itsy bitsy spider. She is absolutely full of life and energy and the Spring getting closer and closer is making me excited because I can picture us spending hours at the playground.

We love you Madison, happy 21 months Baby Girl!!!

New Daycare

Madison is changing daycares in two weeks and I am sooo nervous but I know we have made the right decision. In Georgia I went back to work when she was seven months old and we found the perfect little in home licensed daycare down the road and she was loved and adored there. We hoenstly would have left her there until school if we had the choice. When we moved we looked for another in home situation as it had worked so well for us before. Here? Not so much. I am not going to go into details because it upsets me to think about it. The important thing is Madison is happppyyyy, she loves daycare and she runs in there every morning which is part of the reason why I feel such guilt about moving her but Mr Soldier and I need to be happy too. We are going to put her in a much bigger situation which is NACCRRA funded (assuming we get approved for fee assistance) and I think Madison will thrive. She needs to be around more kids and be challenged. She is so smart but she is in a situation where I don't think she is learning as much as she could. I am nervous but very ready to watch her grow and learn more I just hope she makes some sweet little friends!

Thoughts on Being Pregnant for a Second Time!

This pregnancy just isn't going to be the same is it? I was giggling to myself at how lucky I was with Madison. Yes my husband was deployed and it was lonely and it was stressful but it meant I was lucky enough to not work during my pregnancy. I had a queen size bed to myself, I slept when I wanted, I ate when I wanted, I was on my own routine and I spent hours in front of skype with Mr Soldier. Was it ideal? No of course not but I was able to prioritise my body and my growing baby.
This pregnancy ha you must be joking?! I HAVE A TODDLER. I am carrying her around, dealing with her kicking me if she doesn't want her diaper changed, going up and down the stairs with laundry, sharing a bed with my husband (which is what I want FYI but not as comfortable haha). I am also working a full time job but to be honest that is less stress on my body than being home with Madison every day.
Thank goodness for no nausea so far otherwise I would be crying. Pregnancy with a toddler in the house is noooo joke!

Birthday Recap

Sooo I turned the big 2-5 this past Saturday!!! Mr Soldier and my family totally spoiled me and I had a great weekend. On Friday night we drove to Richmond where Mr Soldier took me shopping for a new outfit to wear to see the Lion King which was really good. To be honest it wasn't the best theatre production that I have seen but we still really enjoyed it. Then we went back to our hotel room and ordered the yummiest pizza ever that you can only get in Richmond haha, dining in style! On Saturday we slept in until 9.30!!! We have a twenty month old little girl which means we haven't done that in....ohhhh twenty months! My family were back at our house and so we went for a great lunch with them and then took them to the airport so that they could fly back to England : ( I had such a nice picture of Mr Soldier and I on my phone which I was going to upload but unfortunately Madison decided to send my phone for a swim in the dog bowl so I lost everything....oh well it can't all be sunshine and rainbows can it?!!

Thank You!!!

Thank you all for your sweet comments yesterday and overwhelming love on facebook. I know people are curious so just to get it out there, this baby was planned! Mr Soldier and I knew we were ready to have another baby and three months later we found out that we had been blessed. This pregnancy has been sooooo much better than Madison's so far so I am keeping my fingers crossed that it stays that way. With her I was pretty much sick from week 8 to week 17 all day, all night, blahhhh. With this baby not so much! I did get sick a few times on our honeymoon but I put it down to being in India, eating different food, drinking different water, being in 100 degree heat oh and the champagne I was sipping by the pool every day! I still had a little feeling though and the strangest thing happened at the hotel. Mr Soldier and I signed up for a couples massage which was amazingggg but at the end of it the lady who was massaging me put her hand on my tummy and kept it there for a few minutes before walking out. I asked Mr Soldier if that happened to him and he said no so we discussed it then that maybe she knew something we didn't and had a little joke about it. Fast forward a week and I am late and TIRED so what do I do?! Take a test in my office bathroom on my lunch break of course!! Mr Soldier knew I was doing it because he had come with me to Target really quickly to pick it up (how romantic haha) so I had to lie to my poor husband and tell him it was negative because I wasn't going to tell him in a text message! That night I rushed to Buy Buy Baby and bought a "I'm The Big Sister" T shirt and put Madison in it when I was changing her into pyjamas. Next thing she is running down to kiss Mr Soldier goodnight, he reads the shirt and his jaw drops! I just remember him saying "really...like for real? really?!!" It was so cute and perfect and that has been our secret for five weeks now!

Madison Has A Secret....

...She is going to be a big sister!!!!

Mr Soldier and I are absolutely thrilled to announce that we are expecting Baby Number 2 at the beginning of September which puts us at almost 11 weeks right now. We have known for a while and it has been the hardest secret to keep!

My parents flew over to visit so this was the perfect time to break the news : )

Happy Valentines Day

Happy Love Day!!!! I like to think that I make an effort every day of the year but of course Valentines Day puts a focus on it! Mr Soldier and I switch out every year so that it isn't always him trying to plan the romance and surprises...who says only girls like to get roses?!! haha!

This year is my year, I haven't planned half as much as I imagined due to, you know, the busy thing called life but I do have a nice evening lined up for us tonight so without ruining the secret I will be back with photos soon!

Countdowns

Isn't it funny how we get hooked on countdowns? I think my obsession is because that is all Mr Soldier and I had for the first two years being together between long distance, college and deployment we were forever counting down. Now I still do it but thank goodness for smaller things to look forward to! Work has been getting me down with a few frustrations here and there so this is what is making me smile

Now- my family are here visiting from England
Tomorrow- Valentines Day with my love!
4 days- Seeing the Broadway production of Lion King in Richmond, VA
5 days- My 25th birthday!!!!
March- Savannah for St Patricks Day!
April- Mr Soldier joins the US Army Drill Team!
May- Madison is Two!!!
June- Beach House reunion with all of our GA friends.....these are the things that are keeping me going right now!

Family Time

Woohooo my family get here tomorrow! I have the day off today so I am running around like a crazy person cleaning and grocery shopping and getting bed linens and towels ready but it will all be so worth it when they get here tomorrow and I get a week with them. I know I am sooo lucky right now to be getting to see them again so soon and I am ready to be such a tourist in DC with them this weekend!

Taxes Filed!

Yay Mr Soldier and I completed our taxes and you know what he is doing straight away once the money hits our bank account? Buying a new TV of course! And what am I doing? Paying off our credit card and getting it down to $0 for the first time in a year and a half wooo hooooo!!!

Wednesday, 8 February 2012

Yay!

We have had an uneventful morning! Madison and I made it to work and daycare on time with no bumps or scratches, I knew this morning would come eventually haha. I don't want to speak too soon as we are meant to have three inches of snow on the ground by the time I get to drive home though! Here is a fun photo to leave you with for the day of our crazy little girl playing football in the kitchen with her Daddy on Sunday.

Really?!

So this morning was going to be better than yesterday right?! I had made my lunch the night before so I was nice and organized. My alarm went off and I jumped out of bed and into the shower, hell I even spent more than five minutes on my make up. I left the house in sunshine with Madison happy in the back of the car exactly on time. And then an ambulance came up behind me in traffic.....then the woman in front of me decided to move out of the way....oh but did she? No she hesitated and decided all of a sudden not to move FOR THE AMBULANCE....and I drove into the back of her in my pretty white Jeep that is now sporting a cracked front bumper. Ay ay ay : (

Wow

What a Monday....I woke up at 7.45am (I normally get up at 7.00am!) I didn't make the bed, Madison peed through her pyjamas and all over her sheets andddddd Mr Soldier took my car keys to work with him after I left them in his truck over the weekend. Phewwww, here's to the week improving from here on out!

Busy Weekend

Woohoo for a fun packed weekend (apart from 7 hours at work on Saturday- can you believe I am still working a job that requires weekends?!) Tonight we are having dinner with great friends from Mr Soldier's work and then tomorrow we are seeing Mimi!!! It has been about two months so we are veryyyy excited to see her and spend time with her. And of course who could forget the superbowl on Sunday. We are not fans of either teams BUT I am excited to eat junk food, shout out loud at the TV and watch good commercials! I hope you all have a great weekend! : )

Surprise!!!

My Mum and Dad called me the other day to tell me they had booked flights to come stay with us in.....10 DAYS!!!! I am so excited! I normally go forever without seeing them and now I get to have them to stay and my brothers even though it has only been a few weeks since we left London woohoo! I have to work which sucks but I am still trying to plan a few fun things : )

Happy Birthday Aaron!

I have definitely married into a great family and Aaron is Mr Soldier's little brother but he is actually only 17 days older than me. And it's his birthday today so HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! I have mentioned him before but just in case you forgot, he lives in NYC and works for Burberry and we live vicariously through him and his stories! Hopefully we can make it up there one weekend without Madison, it is in the plans, now we just have to find the time!
